Custom kitchens in Kitchener
We design and build custom kitchens in Kitchener for homeowners who want cabinets made for their room and the way they cook. Every kitchen is built and painted in our shop in Guelph, about half an hour away, then brought to your home and installed by the same crew that built it. From century homes near downtown to newer houses in Doon South and Huron Village, we plan each kitchen around the house it is going into.

Built in our shop, installed in your Kitchener home.
Kitchener homeowners get the same kitchen as our Guelph clients, because it comes out of the same shop. We cut the parts on our own CNC, assemble the cabinets, and prime and paint them in house, so nothing is ordered from an outside cabinet factory and nothing waits on someone else's schedule.
Your cabinets arrive finished. The cutting, sanding and spraying happen in our shop instead of your house, which keeps the time your kitchen is out of action as short as we can make it.

Kitchens for every kind of Kitchener home.
Kitchener has grown fast, and its homes show it. There are brick houses over a century old around Victoria Park and the streets off King Street East, post war bungalows and 1960s and 70s split levels in areas like Forest Heights and Stanley Park, and whole neighbourhoods built since 2000 in the south end. Here is what we are asked to build most.
- Century homes near downtown. Narrow kitchens at the back of the house, where cabinets built to the exact width and up to the ceiling make the most of a tight footprint.
- Split levels and bungalows. Kitchens boxed in by walls and a separate dining room. A new layout with a peninsula or island often opens up the main floor.
- Newer homes in Doon South, Huron Village and Williamsburg. Builder grade cabinets swapped for a custom island, a pantry wall and a painted finish that suits the house.
- Townhouses and condos. Compact kitchens where every cabinet has to earn its space.
What we plan for in Kitchener.
Downtown Kitchener has added a lot of condos and stacked townhouses in the last decade. Condo corporations usually have their own rules for renovations, such as notice before work starts, set working hours and a booked service elevator for deliveries. We plan the install around those rules, and because the cabinets arrive finished, less time is spent in the building.
In older Kitchener homes, the kitchen often shares walls with the original structure, and some of those walls carry load. Changing a load bearing wall or moving plumbing usually needs a building permit from the City of Kitchener, while new cabinets in the same layout usually do not. At the estimate we point out which parts of your plan fall into which group.
Most of Waterloo Region's drinking water comes from underground and it is hard, so we leave room in the sink cabinet for a softener line or a filter.
Choosing cabinet materials.
What your cabinets are made of matters more than most people expect, and the right answer depends on the finish you want.
- MDF doors. Stable and smooth, so they hold a painted finish without the joints opening up as the seasons change. We cut MDF doors and panels on our own CNC.
- Solid wood. Beautiful under a stain or clear coat, but wood moves with humidity, which can crack paint where the frame pieces meet.
- Plywood boxes. Strong, light and good at holding screws, which makes plywood a common choice for cabinet boxes.
- The finish. A sprayed paint finish applied in the shop is smoother and tougher than paint brushed on at home.

Custom kitchen costs in Kitchener.
We do not quote from a price list, because the price depends on your room. After a free visit to your Kitchener home, you get a written quote for your kitchen.
What changes the price most:
- Cabinet count and height. More cabinets, and cabinets that run to the ceiling, add up.
- Structural work. Moving a wall or plumbing brings in other trades and permits.
- Door style and finish. The door profile, the paint colour and the hardware.
- Built in extras. Islands, pantries, coffee stations and bars.
Kitchener kitchen questions.
What is the average cost of a custom kitchen?
There is no honest average, because a custom kitchen is built for one room. Size, layout changes, door style and finish move the price more than anything else. Our estimates in Kitchener are free, and the quote is written for your kitchen. If your cabinet boxes are sound, a kitchen cabinet respray or refacing costs much less than new cabinets.
What is the best material for kitchen cabinets in Canada?
It depends on the finish. For painted cabinets, MDF doors are the most stable choice, because they do not move with humid summers and dry winters the way solid wood does. For a stained or natural wood look, solid wood doors make sense. We talk through the options at your estimate.
